THE BIOLOGY DEPARTMENT

The Biology Department was founded in 2008 under the faculty of natural sciences. The Science of Biology, which is claimed to be the Science of 21st century, is of vital importance for Turkey because of the necessities to establish environmental policies, protect the biological diversity, and activate sectors that use biotechnology. Major research areas, in which the department is currently involved, are generally related to the application of biological technologies to industrial, medical or environmental problems.

According to definition, a biologist is a person having a permission to examine all living beings, their interaction with each other and their environment with the scientific methods and at the end evaluate the data obtained as a result of these methods in education, agriculture, forestry, health, environment, food, industry, biotechnology etc. A biologist has also responsibility to report and sign the results of biological data.
